Zach Sokol is a writer, editor, and producer, based in New York.
He is currently the Deputy Editor of Hypebeast Magazine, a twice-annual print publication, after first serving as the Guest Editor of Issue 32 (released in fall 2023).
From early 2017 to July 2020, he was the Managing Editor and Features Editor at MERRY JANE, Snoop Dogg’s cannabis and culture publication. Previously, he was an editor and writer at VICE.com and VICE Magazine from 2012 to late 2016.
Sokol’s writing and photos have been published in a number of online and print publications, including Playboy, i-D, The Paris Review, FADER, High Times, Art in America, Penthouse, The Village Voice, Airmail, The Face, and more.
At VICE, he hosted and co-produced several documentaries, including the THUMP doc “Rave New World: The Kraków Cave Rave.” Sokol also co-created and produced one of the company’s first podcasts, Tea Time with T. Kid, alongside noted cannabis personality Abdullah Saeed.
Outside of media, Sokol curates and programs art exhibitions, including a 2016 group show held in an empty U-HAUL storefront in Manhattan that featured the work of the celebrated (or, to use his words, "increasingly feeble-minded") artist Mark Flood.
